A WELL-CONSIDERED and thorough planning exercise is essential to a successful building project. It forms the foundation for all other decisions—either in confirmation of an anticipated approach or toward discovery of a new perspective that may bring unexpected opportunities. Our approach enables clients to determine the feasibility of their vision.
Much of our work is done on college, university and secondary school campuses, and this is where our passion for sports and deep knowledge of recreation facility requirements comes into play. We understand the opportunities and challenges involved in the co-existence of student athletes, recreational athletes, faculty, staff, fans, neighbors and the larger community—and we know how to work these sometime competing interests into a successful building program.
Planning, gathering input, and building consensus are particular strengths of ours. We believe in research, field trips and comparative analysis. We visit campuses and building sites with our cameras, asking questions and looking to learn.
Our work often involves benchmarking and collecting feedback from many disparate constituencies, via surveys, large and small group facilitated meetings and public forums. Interactive group discussions help the stakeholders understand all aspects of key decision points, as well as how the final choices will be ultimately made. Compromise is inevitable, but input and understanding can ease the transition.
We then help our clients envision an approach through three-dimensional design, utilizing models and samples to explain, test and touch ideas. Attractive graphics and visuals become critical tools for fundraising, awareness and recruitment.
At the end of the process, we provide high-value deliverables including a building program, conceptual design, renderings, and a full cost estimate, including both construction and total project costs.
