Assumption College selected Sgarzi Associates to develop a comprehensive master plan for athletics. The study began with an inventory of the existing spaces and an assessment of their utilization. A thorough needs analysis encompassed every campus constituency that could potentially use the indoor sport facilities, including non-sports related special events groups.

Our sub-consultant engineers worked with the campus physical plant personnel to review the condition of the mechanical systems and their potential for expansion. We spent a great deal of time with the Athletic Department and facilitated a comprehensive campus-wide information-gathering process that included open forums, focus group meetings and design reviews.

Sgarzi Associates recommended a solution that would preserve and improve the atmosphere of the traditional Laska Gymnasium, home of the Division II basketball and volleyball programs. The Administration was able to use the final master plan document to make an effective case for upgrading and expanding the building.
